Women-Capitol brochure

Historic images of female heroes and the art from the U.S. Capitol made this brochure both a delight to work on and a success.

The cover art is an 1859 drawing of the elevation of the dome of the Capitol by architect Thomas U. Walter, with a vignette of Jeannette Rankin, the first woman elected to Congress. For the inside spreads, I ensured that the images were placed alongside their references in the text.

Challenge The client needed a publication and had strong content and imagery but did not have a specific format in mind.
Solution I suggested a saddlestitched 5.5" x 8.5" brochure that worked well as a walking tour guide and highlighted the strong collection of images from the Architect of the U.S. Capitol.
Result The piece was very well received.
